Abstract Painting Project · Craftwhack
This painting project is fun and gives satisfying results for pretty much all ages of kids. You can tailor the projection to the age of the kid past helping them more or less. For instance, if you are doing this with a 4 year old, y'all will do more of the placing of the record and showing them how to mix colors. An older kid will be able to do the whole matter themselves. An even older kid could become nuts with adding lots and lots of different record layers or even dissimilar shapes with the tape.
Materials:
- gessoed board or canvas
- acrylic paint
- pigment brushes
- blue painters' tape
- palette or surface for mixing paints
1: Place some tape onto your board primed with gesso (or canvas). We used a pine board primed with ii layers of gesso and started by placing random tape pieces on the board.
ii: Embrace information technology with acrylic paint. Don't apply information technology straight out of the tube! Accept this opportunity to work on color mixing. We used a yellow and and unfortunate looking yellowy-green.
three: Let it dry, peel the tape, add together more tape, add more paint. We peeled up almost half of the record pieces, and and then fabricated tape stripes this fourth dimension. Y'all tin can of form make any shapes yous desire, loose or straight. Nosotros opted for loose stripes with ripped edges.
Blue paint- the color of the record!
4: Repeat #3. Nosotros ripped off the rest of the 'random' tape pieces and decided to stick with stripes at this point. We agreed that the green was actually ugly, then nosotros left a lot of it uncovered to pigment over. (Place next tape stripes more often than not over the blue paint to protect it, and your next paint layer will encompass over much of the colour you don't like.)
Bright orange this time!
Nosotros're pretty happy with the finished product, but adjacent time we desire to try fifty-fifty more than layers of stripes. I recollect limiting the palette to different shades of one colour would be actually cool. Or try layers of ripped 'dots'. This project is manner open to experimentation.
